Flashback: 14 years ago...
"Mommy! Mommy!" You yelled as you ran towards your mom. She was packing some bags, knowing that you wouldn't stay for long here, in Japan. It was more of a business trip on why you were here in the first place. From your dad's work- you've always wanted to be like your dad. You can't really deny that you two were very much alike.
"Yes, (nickname)?" She said while she placed the last pieces of clothes in the bag.
"I wanna go to this park! It looks pretty!" You said and held up a brochure that you picked up from the airport when you first got here.
You tried pulling a cute face, but your mom just ruffled your hair. Just moments after, your dad walked in- bringing a huge smile to your face.
"Daddy! Can you take me there?" You grinned.
"Sure, (nickname)." Your father smiled at you as he picked you up.
Time skip: At the park...
"Wait here, (name). Daddy's gotta answer a call. Just stay there." Your dad says as he ruffled your hair and stood up.
'I wonder if dad's gonna buy me ice cream...'
You tried to stay where you were. You looked around, seeing kids of your age, roaming around and playing. It was a windy day and you felt like having fun with them.
'Daddy said that I should stay here...' You thought as you stared down onto the ground. Your thoughts were soon distracted by the sound of another kid crying softly. You looked over to a nearby tree, a boy sitting on the ground with a string in hand. You were confused for a moment until you looked up to the tree, seeing that the boy's string went up to it. His kite was stuck.
You went over to the boy and patted him on the back. He turned over to you, looking slightly surprised.
"Hi! What's your name?" You asked, grinning at him.
"That's a cute name. Mine's (name)!" You held out your hand to shake his, and pulling him back up. You smiled at him again. "I'll help you!" You let go of his hand and marched towards the tree. You slowly climbed up. Kiku had nothing to say, though he could have thought of doing that. You continued climbing until you were able to sit on a branch where you'd be able to reach for his kite. You glanced back down at him and smiled. He just stared at you and waved. You untangled his kite and pushed it away from the smaller branches and moved back. Kiku smiled when he got his kite back, but he looked back at you.
"(name)-san? You should be coming down now." Kiku said softly.
"I like it here." You said with a grin as you tried to make yourself comfortable in your seat... on the branch.
"(name)!" Your dad called out, with an ice cream in hand.
"Ice cream!" You yelled as you tried rushing down, but ended up- missing a step.
"(n-name)-san!" He yelled as he tried to extend his arms to catch you.
Your butt did hurt, but it wasn't much. You did land on something that seemed softer than the ground. "Kiku...?" You looked down, seeing him, whose eyes were shut. He groaned and you immediately stood up, holding your hand out for him.
"(name)! What were you doing? I told you to stay still." You father said while he was embracing you tightly.
"I helped him get his kite back!" You smiled and pointed over to Kiku, who was inspecting his kite for any damage.
"Um... A-Arigato, (name)-san." He bowed and smiled at you.
"Thanks too! ...For catching me!" You smiled back and your father smiled at the both of you.
"You pretty much landed on him, (name)." He said as ruffled your hair, again. "Let's go."
"Okay... Bye, Kiku!" You waved at him and followed your dad.
End of Flashback...
"Beautiful as always..." You muttered as you took out your camera.
You swore back then that you'd come back for this wonderful place. You did well at work, following some of your father's advice in being successful. You decided to learn the Japanese language in a couple years back. And, here you are...
You looked over to your documents about the company that you would be working for. You picked up several guides and maps from the airport, but it was no help. You sighed as you sat down on a nearby bench, inspecting the map you have in hand just in case you missed something. A couple of minutes later, there was still no progress in getting the right location of the company's building. Right...
...You're lost in Tokyo. Perfect.
You didn't really expect yourself to remember the exact place, if you were gonna base it from the time you've last been here. You watched the busy streets as you lay back onto the bench.
You groaned as you woke up, being poked over your side. You turned your head to see a man with black hair and gorgeous brown eyes. A familiar face, though you couldn't name it. He wore a long black coat and some sort of business attire. You started to doze off again since you were still sleepy. The man gently shook you by your shoulder, seeing that you were slightly curled up due to the cold.
"Huh...? What?" You said blinking your eyes, trying to get a better view of your surroundings.
"Sumimasen, but you've been asleep for a while. I decided to wake you up seeing that your bags may seem unguarded. Y-You must be new to this place..." He gave you a small smile.
"Oh, no. I've been here before. It's just that I'm... kinda lost."
"I've noticed." He glanced over to the maps that were placed over the bench. His eyes widened when he looked at some of the documents that you were holding. He grabbed your map and looked over to you.
"You're looking for (company's name)?" He asked and you nodded.
"You're in luck. I can take you there." He gathered your things and handed them to you.
"Thank you." You smiled at him and stood up.
Time skip: A couple of minutes later...
The man had led you to his car. He was kind enough to drive you to the company where you'd be working. Though, you didn't have much of a conversation.
"Thank you so much for taking me here..." You said as you took his hand as he opened the door for you. You were in awe at first glance of the building. This was the company you were going to work for?
"It was a pleasure..." He smiled at you. "...and I work here."
He went on passed the doors as you followed suit. There were several employees moving aside and greeting him as he passes by. He must have quite a rank to be given so much respect and attention.
He then, led you to his office. Your eyes immediately darted for his title on his desk.
'Kiku Honda, COO (company name)'
You twitched at the moment. You must have been bothering him for quite some time. You might as well slap yourself on the face for causing him trouble while he was having you along.
"I'm sorry, sir." You looked away,
"Don't. It's alright." He smiled as you as he took his seat.
Your eyes widened and looked back to his name. "Wait." You thought for a while. "K-Kiku?"
"Ah, hai. Is there something wrong?"
"How's your kite?"
You and Kiku had quite a talk, about how life had been for the both of you in the past years. You were glad that he still remembered the moment when you first met. You were glad that you met him once again.
"It's really good to see you again, (name)-san. I've missed you."
"Same here." You grinned at him.
"Excuse me, sir. I've brought the papers." A woman came into the office carrying a stack. She had quite the appeal, and you could tell by the way she walks and dresses- it made you twitch once again. She looked at you and smiled, then she gasped.
"Oh, my god! (name)?! Is that you?! No wonder why you look so familiar! You haven't changed at all!" She laughed and you felt like you wanted to vomit. She looked at you confusingly. "Aw~ Can’t you remember me? (random girl's name)?"
'Oh, I remember you, alright...' You thought as you readied your fist.
"Ah, and (name)-san, this is my secretary, (random girl's name)." He paused. "You must be good friends, I assume." Kiku said as he smiled at the both of us.
"Yes, sir!" She said.
"Well, (name)-san. You will be working for me. I'll just have to look over your papers."
"Thanks, sir." With that, you left.
Time skip: Celebration
You've been working with Kiku for a couple of months. It wasn't so bad, if it weren't for that girl, who's always trying to get his attention. You can't really say that you and Kiku were childhood friends, but you like him.
Today you were promoted. You weren't exactly happy, since rumours were also saying that Kiku and (random girl's name) have feelings for each other. Of course, they were just rumours, but it still bothers, right?
And today-! You were now with your friends, getting drunk. (best friend 1) convinced you to set aside your love issues and drink it off. They said they were going to try helping you out. You aren't much of a drinker at all. You only drink on occasions, and this is one.
"C'mon, (name)! It can't be that bad! Just wait for them to break up and-" (best friend 2) said as he patted you on the back.
"So, you're saying that they ARE together?" You said and glared at him as you slammed the bottle on the counter.
"No! No! It's nothing like that! (best friend 1) said as she glared at him. "Just celebrate, okay?" She smiled at you.
"I think I'm gonna celebrate on the streets and tell the world how much I love 'im..." You clumsily got off the stool and walked towards the entrance.
"Yeah, you go do that! Good luck!" (best friend 2) said as he raised his bottle to acknowledge your leave.
Your friends didn't have much to worry about, other than car accidents that you may come across to. You were pretty much a harmless drunk, just roaming around and shouting whatever comes into your mind.
Right now... You were in the very same park to begin with.
"Now where's that kite?" You clumsily walked over to a random tree and took off your shoes. It was a slight relief to you since you weren't the type to wear heels at work, compared to someone who's pretty much an expert in all that. You twitched again. You shook your hands dramatically and climbed up the tree. The other people were looking at you, like you were a lost animal of some sort. You actually felt like one at the moment.
You sat on the very same spot. Though, you weren't sure if this was the exact, same tree you climbed up before. -and surely, there was no kite.
"I must have been gone for a looooong time. Now they have invisible kites!" You flailed your arms like crazy, gaining the attention of the cops that were on stand by, just around the corner. Just before they were about to call out for you, a familiar man approached them and told them that he'd handle it.
He walked over to the tree, but didn't climb up. He just sat down and stared at you. You tilted your head, as if showing that you didn’t understand whatever he was trying to do.
"Where's your kite?"
"Please, get down. You're scaring people."
"I'm just a lonely girl sitting on a tree. What's scary about that?"
"They're sca- I'm scared of you, falling from the tree, (name)-san... You'll hurt yourself."
"Hah! I'm hurt just because I was already falling for you!" You laughed. "Cheesy, isn't it?"
"Hmm..." You thought for a while, putting up a cute face while at it. "...Alright! But you'll have to catch me." You grinned.
"I uh... h-hai. I'll catch you." Kiku looked up with his arms, wide open. He smiled at you.
Time skip: A few minutes after the fall...
"Sir? Are you alright?" The cop waved his flashlight over Kiku's face, blinding him at the moment.
"Kiku?" You tried shaking him gently, seeing if he would wake up.
He groaned and sat up. He tried to stand up, but you were straddling him, plus the look of a clueless child- You were still drunk... He didn't mind that at all. He immediately hugged you, speaking in Japanese rapidly. Though, you can't get a clue of what he's saying.
One of the cops took out his handcuffs and Kiku immediately shook his head, saying that it wasn't necessary.
"Let's take you home..." He said as he helped you up and brought you to his car.
Time skip: At your home...
"(name)-san, you do know that I have so much work to do, and I know that you can take care of yourself. Please, let me go." Kiku said as he tried to pry your arms off him.
"But I'm lonely!" You held him tighter.
"(name)-san, please..." He looked over to your sleepy form and smiled. He grabbed his phone and told that he was going for a sick leave and made sure that the rest of the employees would be aware of his absence.
"Tell them that I'm sick too..." You pouted. "Please...?" You tried pulling off the cutest face you could possibly do. Kiku smiled and did what you asked of him. He noticed that you were starting to lose your balance, so he carried you to your room and placed you on the bed.
"Oyasuminasai, (name)." He said as he pulled the covers over you and left.
Time skip: (Too many 'Time skip's... xD)
"Oh, no..." You groaned as you moved over to your side. "It's the hangover..." You tried the sit up, but failed. "I'm doomed." Your head was pounding.
"Ohayōgozaimasu, (name)-san." Kiku said as he sat down beside you.
"I called us off for today." He smiled at you.
"I must be dreaming. My work-aholic boss is here with me, saying that I was called for a sick leave." You laughed and laid down.
"Very well then..." He looked away. "Um... (name)-san?"
"About what you said last night, at the park..."
"I was drunk."
"Ah, yes... I should've expected that."
"I could remember you, catching me- only this time, we're adults. Kinda like the days back then." You laughed.
"Hai. That wasn't a dream. If that's what you were thinking." He smiled at you.
"Oh... Heh. Sorry about that, and for whatever happened last night." You looked away. "Hey, Kiku? Do you like (random girl's name)?"
Kiku looked at you, surprisingly and laughed. "Who gave you that idea, (name)-san?" He looked at you, straight in the eyes and sighed. "So, that was the reason behind-"
"Yes." You looked away, blushing.
"That was... straight."
"I can't lie to my boss. I might end up getting fired." You said, jokingly.
"You have done great in the past couple of months, (name)-san. I can't thank you enough. Things have become easier to manage since the time you began working for me. I have no reason to fire you." He smiled at you. "...and I've waited so long..."
"...for me to have the chance to say this..." He inhaled, deeply. "Watashi wa anata o aishiteimasu." He buried his face in his hands. You giggled at his shyness as you pushed his hands away from his blushing face and kissed him on the cheek. He looked shocked at first, then smiled at you.
"I love you too...?" You guessed, and he smiled.
"I hope the guys at work won't find this all weird."
"I can fire some of them, if you want me to."
"Oh, that wouldn't be necessary." You grinned.
"Are you sure, you don't want me to fire anyone?" Kiku teased.
"Let me think about it..." (｡◕‿◕｡)
